How did you get your name?
- Mattzie Kay is actually a combined family name.
Do you have a favorite children's book?
- Besides all of the books I've written :) I really enjoy "Enough" by Grace Myers.
If you could have one of your books featured in a movie, what movie would it be?
- The opportunity to have my books featured in a project would be amazing, especially anything with Ryan Coogler, Tyler Perry or Ava DuVernay, to name a few.
What are you working on at the moment?
- I always have a story in progress. I'm truly always writing!
What type of books do you like to read?
- I enjoy mystery, romance, and inspirational books. It's not uncommon to find me curled up with an Eric Jerome Dickey or James Patterson book. I recently finished Michelled Obama 'Becoming' and Trevor Noah 'Born A Crime'. Both were excellent, must reads.
What is your favorite color?
- I like many, however, my favorite color is blue
Where do you get ideas for your stories?
- You name it, I probably get inspiration from it! Most of my inspiration comes from personal experience, the children in my family or by observing people in everyday life.
How did you get your books published?
- After researching the various ways to get published, and my reason for publishing books, I came to the conclusion that independent publishing was the best route for me. I aligned myself with people that had the skills to assist me on this journey, implemented the information I learned, and took a leap of faith.
What advice do you have for others wanting to write books?
- I heard Steve Harvey say "Everything you imagine is possible. God puts the life he has for you in your imagination". My advice is to find what inspires you to write and start writing!
